AI in the Legal Profession: Practical Use Cases that Work

About Course
This two-hour CLE course offers a practical, real-world introduction to how attorneys are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in everyday legal work. Participants will explore key AI technologies—including large language models and AI agents—and learn the differences between general-purpose tools (like ChatGPT) and legal-specific platforms (such as Westlaw CoCounsel and Lexis+ AI).
The course highlights a range of current applications, including legal research, drafting, litigation preparation, client communication, and translation. Participants will learn prompt design strategies to improve results, avoid common pitfalls, and ensure responsible use.
The final segment addresses critical risks and limitations—such as hallucinated citations, confidentiality breaches, and copyright issues—along with guidance on internal AI policies and regulatory trends.
Attorneys will leave with practical skills, risk awareness, and a clear framework for using AI effectively in legal practice.
