Advising Clients on AI Use: Guiding Clients to Safer and Smarter AI Adoption
About Course
This one-hour CLE program provides attorneys with a practical, up-to-date framework for advising clients on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in business, personal, and legal contexts. As AI tools rapidly reshape industries, lawyers must be able to spot and explain the risks associated with clients’ use of AI, including issues related to confidentiality, data security, and protection of attorney–client privilege. The session focuses on concrete strategies lawyers can use to guide clients toward safer and more responsible AI practices. Topics include identifying when AI use may create legal exposure, how AI may affect privilege and work product, considerations for contracts and policies governing AI use, and how to communicate clear guardrails and expectations to clients.
